Conceptualized and Designed by coeno: MySports for the Swiss Company Quickline

A New Subscription Sports Channel for Switzerland

With the MySports sports channel, Quickline now also offers its customers live sports, analyses and talk shows on exciting sporting events. The Quickline Group is the third largest TV provider, and the fourth largest internet and telephone provider, in Switzerland.

For more than four years, coeno has been supporting Quickline in conceptualizing and designing the Quickline TV application on various devices. Therefore, we were also happy to be commissioned for the concept and design of the new sports section. The Minimal Viable Product (MVP) for the MySports section is already available on all platforms including Quickline TV Box, Quickline TV app for mobile devices (iOS and Android), and available on the Web. Sports-loving customers are already using the MySports TV channels – including an HD TV channel as a free basic offer.

Our Toolbox for MySports

Have creative workshops: We worked out ideas on how the new sports section can bring significant added value for the user. In addition to the attractive design of the offer and fast access to live games, the focus was on attractive and user-friendly extras. Examples include: the most important information about a favorite club, integration of the Twitter feed and a conference mode while streaming games.

Build a wireframe-based prototype: This allowed us to test, at an early stage, how good our ideas were. The prototype showed on the lead-device tablet and the set-top box (STB) how the devices work together. Quickline then carried out a user test, which showed consistently positive results.

Define the MVP: The next task was to make the working method more agile in order to make the offer accessible faster for Quickline customers. Based on feedback from the user test, we worked with Quickline Product Management to create the framework for the MVP. The goal was to offer users added value right from the start – without having to implement the entire product scope. Basic features included: an overview page that provides access to all live sports events through a MySports guide, to MyClub and to recommendations; a MyHockey page with the games of the favorite club, on all matches of the National and Swiss League as well as useful statistics, such as current scores. In addition, day tickets or monthly subscriptions can be booked for the first time.

Cooperate and test: At another workshop with SeaChange’s development team, which was hired by Quickline, we then finalized the wireframes for the STB, and the scope and direction of the MVP. Then it was time to write the use and test cases for the agreed MVP.

Create the design: We aimed to achieve the look and feel of a cool sports application. For this, we put together different approaches and designs for a modern version of the Quickline user interface. In addition, in this phase we defined the views for all devices.

And the result: The result is a really user-friendly TV product. Quickline MySports offers its users an enjoyable TV sports experience through attractive offers, simple operation and an appealing design across all devices.

Outlook 2018: Quickline Continues to Develop its Sports Sector and we are Part of it

More releases of MySports are already in the pipeline. So, special pages for ice hockey, soccer and other sports are planned, which allow a more targeted search for live events. The feature MyClub should be available to soccer fans in the future. We are looking forward to further cooperation with Quickline!
