MyAstro

Redesign of a personalised service app in Malaysia

Redesign of an international service app that also showcases the content offering

Astro is a Malaysian broadband provider. In the My Astro iOS app, service topics in particular are addressed in order to reduce the support workload and to give customers the option of paying bills quickly and smoothly. In addition, the app should also show the variety of content available to Astro customers. A challenge for the UX.

A service app that is fun

As a result, personalised, user-friendly and "entertaining" service information can be found on the start page next to recommendations for interesting content offers. The individual personal relevance is what makes the app so charming for the user.

Other countries, many things different

The My Astro app includes account management functions such as bill payment as well as a rewards programme and an overview of available content on TV and OnDemand. The app is highly personalised and displays individualised information on the start page, depending on the customer status. A particular challenge was that we first had to deal with local conditions in many respects, as the requirements for such an app differ from the user's point of view. For example, dealing with bills and their payment is different in Malaysia than in Germany. Direct debits or standing orders are extremely rare and many people pay their bills personally every month. This of course has an impact on invoicing and on the relevance of certain information on open invoices. In addition, reward programmes for customers, which provide different coupons (discount codes) depending on customer affiliation, have a much higher relevance than in this country. Discovering these and many other local differences was a special attraction for us in the project.

Premium Design

There are also certainly big differences between Germany and Malaysia in terms of the understanding of visual aesthetics. Together with Astro's Malaysian design team, we worked closely together to develop a design language that corresponds to a premium brand with corresponding content. These design and UX guidelines were then continued by the internal design department and transferred into the entire product.
